Updated Rules for Operating Drones
On Jan. 9, 2019, the federal government published updated rules—to be enforced by Transport Canada and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP)—for flying unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), more commonly known as drones, in Canada. The new rules, which apply to drones weighing 250 grams to 25 kilograms that are operated within the pilot’s visual-line-of-sight, introduce two categories of drone operations based on proximity to bystanders and airspace rules. These new regulations went into effect on June 1, 2019. Read the New Drone Regulations Compliance Bulletin to learn more.
